citysocializer uses Foursquare.com as our venue database. Foursquare is a free app that helps users make the most of where they are. By using Foursquare whilst out and about users can see tips left by other members of the community at nearby venues – users can also share and save the places they visit on Foursquare. Don’t worry you don’t need to be a Foursquare user to use citysocializer – we have simply built upon their extensive user generated database of global bars, restaurants, tourist attractions and businesses.
As the content on Foursquare is user generated you might sometimes find missing or incorrect information on venues addresses. If you see anything which isn’t right you have two options – if you are not a Foursquare user you can email email@example.com providing details of the venue and one of our friendly customer support team will take care of reporting the problem to Foursquare. Alternatively if you are a Foursquare user you can “Report a Problem” with a specific venue via your own account.
If you cannot find the place you are looking for when creating a social on the citysocializer site please ensure that the city displayed to the left of the venue field is showing your chosen city for this social. If this is correct and you still cannot find the right venue again you have two options – you can email firstname.lastname@example.org with the name of the vanue you are looking for and a link to their website and one of our support team will add this to the Foursquare database or again if you are a Foursquare user you can add the venue/location yourself. When adding venues the Foursquare database it would be great if you can follow their style guidelines and try to avoid creating duplicate listings of venues/locations. It’s much better to report misinformation than creating new listings.
